58 carb

Default 58 carb

i have a new 58 and see that there are 3 fuel barbs on the carb. i know that one is vented to atmosphere and the other is the fuel supply. there is a third black plastic barb that i am not sure about though. what is it for? thanks!

The third nipple on the carburettor is for operating the carburettor's integral fuel-pump.
It is closest to another nipple on the crankcase, where it gets pressure/vacuum pulses, that operate the diaphragm pump, which is inside the carburettor.
There should be some transparent tubing to connect between them.

This pump is integral to all Walbro and other power-tool carburettors.
It allows you to put the fuel tank back on the C/G.

I think that black one is for the fuel...

The black is fuel,
The metal nipple on the cast cover is crankcase pulse line
The metal nipple on the sheet metal cover is membrane pressure vent line (fuel pressure reference)
