Default 26GT will not run above 4000 rpm

I have an Evolution 26 GT that I can get to idle, but it will not go above 4000 rpm. This is the first model and the EI died on it so I am using one of the RC e XL CDI units with it. I would think that EI would work fine with it since it was on a Poulan 46 and also a Zenoah G26. I took the carb off the G26 and put on the 26GT and it did the same thing with it. I checked for air leaks in fuel lines and made sure the carb mount was on tight. Any suggestions?

Anthony, I already posted an answer in the gas forum section. You need to find the best timing for the RCexcl ignition. Now it fires way too late. File off the old sensor mounting boss, and tiewrap the sensor in place so you can position it.
