MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Hi,
I am currently contemplating the 35cc and the 45cc gassers to decide which one will be best suited to my 80" WS edge 540. I would prefer to use the 35 as it will be lighter, and my AUW will be about 13lbs. Will the 35cc be suitable for 3D flying, and is it possible for me to get a minimum of 18lbs thrust out of it with a 20x8 prop? Hope someone can assist me in deciding Thanks |
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
MalaysianFlyer,
The 35 cc should have more than enough power, for the model in question. The new 45 cc is a great engine and about as light, but it costs about 60% more and most (or more likely, all) of the time, you will not need the extra power. |
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
The 43cc (2.60) engine with canister will turn a 24x10 prop @ 6100 rpm for 30+ lbs thrust
The 35cc with 3271 muffler and 20x10 prop will run at about 6400 rpm and about 18-19 lbs thrust. 7300 with tuned pipe and 24 lbs thrust For 3D you need at least 1.5 times the plane weight, but 2 times the weight is better, so between the two, I would prefer the 43cc engine, which has a bit of power to spare for exhaust experiments. |

Guys, thank you for the help. I will probably go for the 35cc on this plane and use the 45cc for the next edge, which is a 96in WS edge, at about 16-17lbs.
Thanks again |

Would the 45cc have more power than the DA 50 both on pitt style muffler.

RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Y N C,
The benchmark RPM for the MVVS 45 cc, with the #3204 silencer, is 6,100 RPM on a 24x10 Mejzlik prop and 5,900 RPM on a 3-blade 22x10 Mejzlik. I believe these numbers are more typical of good, 60 cc gas engines. I hope this provides a good answer to your question. |
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Thanks DarZeelon. So i have to use the #3204 silencer to get that kind of power?
|
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
No, you do not have to use the 3204 canister. The peak power with the 3204 has been sacrificed in order to obtain for a very flat and wide peak power range.
The JMB muffler delivers even more power, but is not as broad band in it's power output. MVVS still is working on 45cc dedicated mufflers. They expect to finish this work this summer. Until then: You can't go wrong with the 3204. |
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Hi, I'm getting 7000 RPM on the 45cc with a Beila 22x8 prop on a ZDZ 60cc Bission muffler after the frist gallon of gas mix at 30:1. Does the numbers look good to you guys? or should i go with a bigger prop and keep the RPM down a bit.
|
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Y N C,
This is great RPM on this prop size, but the engine is over its efficient RPM range. I believe you should use a 24x10, or a similar prop, to load it down to slightly more than 6,000 RPM. |
RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
Thanks DAR, I'll try a Menzs 24x8. This is one awesome motor.

RE: MVVS 35cc gasser or new 45cc??
I found this forum very interesting. I'm trying to identify which of the engines would be the best price/benefit rate to me, and looks like the 35 gas would be the best fo me. I am almost finishing an EDGE 540 with 80" WS.
Now thw major question. Where can I buy a MVVS down here in United States? Regards. |
