Header Muffler joiner?
I have about a gallon of fuel thru my used MVVS 2.15 gas and the other night the tubing that is used to join the header pipe to the long pipe developed a large hole. I picked up some heater hose at my local lowes store that was the right size but I was wondering what everyone else was using. After two 15 minute flights last night the hose was so hot you couldn't touch it. I'm not sure how long it will stand up to the heat.

RE: Header Muffler joiner?
I use the Aerotrend Ultra blue tuned pipe couplers, they last me months at a time and I have about 80 flights on the one I have on it now with no problems.

Bob,
Gas engines produce higher exhaust temperatures. You will just have to get the highest temp silicone tubing you can find. Buy a length that will last a few installations. Not all silicone tubing is the same. With the tube at 150-200 degrees Celsius, no wonder you cannot touch it... |
RE: Header Muffler joiner?
In the 35cc engine, I inserted (brazed) a short piece of corrugated steainless steel tube in the exhaust header pipe. This allowed me to use high heat resistance Glass fibre reinforced silicone coupler hose. Before the mods, even teflon tubing went too soft.
With the advent of power, up goes the exhaust gas temperature! |
