MVVS 49 Stunt question

Hi Guys,

My LHS has a NIB older MVVS 49 Stunt (RIRE) with mini-pipe/muffler (approx. 1 inch dia., 4 or 5 inches long).

What are the real differences between this older engine and the current MVVS 49 Stunt (FIRE)?
Is the current engine really any "better" for Control Line Stunt than the older design, other than the obvious difficulty of access to the rear venturi for choking?

Thanks for the info.

RE: MVVS 49 Stunt question

First, the old type with rear intake is not produced any more.
Choking is not difficult at all, just flip the prop while closing the muffler exit.
With the front intake, it is easier to set up the engine in a nice 4-stroking pace and full two-stroking power in the uplines, due to the larger distance between spray bar and fuel level. The front intake is also less sensitive to ram pressure build up at the carb mouth, which may cause the engine to lean out in level flight.

RE: MVVS 49 Stunt question

Thanks for the info, Pe. I can get this RIRE engine for a VERY good price, wondering if it is worth the effort?

Can't find a shop in US that stocks the new FIRE 49. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
