MVVS 26 ... ¿Which is the difference?

Dear Sirs:

Yesterday in our club we had discussion about this subject: we have seen mvvs26 (gas) with the head in red, in blue and aluminium color. Somebody said that the aluminium one is the old version. Somebody said that the blue one is from Robbe ... Please, could you be so kind to bring a bit of light about this?

Thank you in advance.
Javier

Javier,

MVVS uses either a red, or a neutral head for the IFS (gas) engine.
The blue head is used for the glow models (in the past there was also a neutral glow head).

RE: MVVS 26 ... ¿Which is the difference?

Well.. I had on my hand yesterday a MVVS gas 26 with the blue head ... but that's not really important. What it's important for me is to know if there is any way to distinct an old model from the new ones. I have found one engine with the neutral head in a shop. I'm thinking on buying a new one, but I don't want to buy the old version. Is there any way to know if it is old or new version?

Thank you.
Regards,
Javier

RE: MVVS 26 ... ¿Which is the difference?

Javier,

There could be a blue ignition head version.

I am not aware of any change MVVS has made in the head shape.

Your interest in a newer model is more in the ignition system than in the metal parts.

The newer Vlach ignition has two magnets and the system is in a metal box; not a foil packed package like the older Vlach.

The newest MVVS ignition is in cast plastic, but you will have to wait to find a pre-owned one...

Thank you very much for your explanations. What I'n trying to avoid is to purchase one of those older engienes with a different piston ... or are that engines so old that it's improbable to find them in a shop?

MVVS also makes gas engines for Graupner in Germany. One of these may have made it to Spain.

Javier,

If the head is anodized, the piston is very likely to be the newer, graphite coated type.
Yes, you would prefer this newer piston.
