MVVS .91 Instructions

I have just acquired my first MVVS engine, a used .91 with the older style carb. It also came with a diesel head and carb. Is there a location on the web from where I can download operating instructions? Thanks.

Paul,

As a Diesel converted engine, the normal MVVS instructions would not be much help to you.

This engine was never originally manufactured as a Diesel by MVVS, so I would suggest you to to [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Everything_Diesel/forumid_87/tt.htm]the 'Everything Diesel' forum[/link] and seek help from the participants there. Especially I recommend Martin (dieseldan) and Dave (Hobbsy), who have ample experience with conversion Diesels, as well as the master, Bob Davis (DDD) himself.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that MVVS did not sell these as a diesel variant, although the diesel carb certainly looks well made, and the diesel head is outwardly identical to the glow version. However, I would still like to obtain a copy of the original manual for this engine, especially considering the operation of the older style glow version carb. I most likely will be operating this engine as a glow unit, although I'm what you might call "diesel curious".

RE: MVVS .91 Instructions

Paul,

MVVS did make a Diesel variant of their .61 engine, the #3091 DFS/R.

The .91 (15 cc) engine has a 27 mm bore and the .61 has a 23 mm bore, so each uses a different head button and even a different cooling head.

The conversion head could have only replaced the original glow head button.
This is why it may look very OEM to you.

If you send a few photos (not with the Fast Reply), maybe I could identify it.

Here are some pics of the engine and various parts. BTW, a quick measurement of the dark area of the diesel head underside (non-aluminum) area shows 23mm. Sort of looks like I have a .61 that is marked as a .91 (15cc). I must apologize for the lack of clarity of the pics.

RE: MVVS .91 Instructions

Paul,

These are two different carburettors...

The one on the engine seems to be the excellent #3222 (but discontinued due to high cost (?)) and the separate one is an older #3216, or #3219. For the Diesel you would want the 7 mm choke #3216.

It is not an original MVVS Diesel head button, but probably one made by Bob Davis. The MVVS unit is mostly brass and protudes into the cap between the cooling-fin part of the head, which has a cross-bar compression adjuster.

Contact Bob Davis on the Diesel forum, or on his web site.

The cooling-fin part of the head seems to be OEM MVVS.

RE: MVVS .91 Instructions

Thanks again for the info. However, does anyone know of a site from which I can download operating instructions (owner's manual) for this engine? The least I require is some idea of how to adjust the carb that is on the engine (#3222). Thanks.
