Q500 engine?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether this was a race engine or not.
and I was looking at different mufflers(pipes) for this. I wantto run an APC 7.4X7.5 at HIGH RPM. will I be better off cutting the header to get the RPM or getting a new 3246 pipe.
I also found a 3235 and a 3248, would these work better?
I am wanting to put it in a Q40 model, thats why I am using a small diameter prop.

The engine is most likely the #3068 Quickie.

Make sure the carburettor has a 9 mm choke size, which the Quickie is endowed with.
The bearings should be the phenolic retainer WIBs.

The exhaust duration on the Quickie's sleeve is about 180º; not the 155º of the normal .40 engine.


The tuned silencer in the photo seems to be the normal #3248. If the distance from the front face of the canister to the end of the 'stinger' is 175 mm, as it seems, it will not allow the engine to exceed ~15,500 RPM.
The #3246 is for up to 23K - you need that!

...The #3235 will not fit this engine - and it is a normal silencer.

The header is a Macs and it is significantly longer than the original MVVS unit (and some say it is of better quality).
It is designed to be trimmed to length. And if you want to use it with that 7.4x7.5 APC C/F prop, north of 20K, you'll have to do it.

would this engine be capable of turning 23,000 or better with the 7.4X7.5 APC and if so,,what pipe should I be using?

There are very few Quickie engines, of any make, that are capable of spinning at such high RPM.

20K is more like it and you will want to use the #3246 Quickie tuned silencer.

For higher RPM the #3247 is even better, but its availability is quite limited, as is its effective RPM range.
It is a full bore racing pipe, designed for the discontinued #3070R/F GRRT and GRFT engines.
