Ignition problem evo 36

Hi,

Could anyone advise about the following problem.

Trying to start the engine, it will usually fire after a few flips but will stop within 1 second. As the engine stops, the ignition LED illuminates permanently. When the LED is on, there is no spark.
The infos on the LED in the manual are very scarce and nothing is mentioned about illuminating permanently.
Does it indicate the module has a problem?
Note we tried different 4 cells nicads w/ the same result.

Thanks for your help,

Eric

Eric:

If I understand you correctly, you're using too few cells, too low of a voltage for your ignition battery.
I think you said that you're using four cell nicads, ie 4.8 volts?

On my 26CC Evolution, minimum voltage is 6 volts, whereupon the electronic ignition shuts off the motor.
That's to make it safe for using a 2S Lipo for your ignition battery.

I think you want a seven cell NiCd/NiMh or a 2S Lipo for your ignition battery?

The voltage should at all times be above 6.4 volts. Use 6 NiMH cells or 2S Lipo. Below 6.4V the ignition acts up.
The low voltage is indicated by the LED continuous light.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. The manual for the engine says to use only 4 cells nixx ie 4.8v!

Thanks,

Eric
