Ultimate BiPlane 40 - 41.5" Scale Aerobatic Airplane
Well i just purchased this Blue and white Biplane i have had experience with several nitroplanes models two are crashed but no fault of the maker of the plane completely pilot error. I had the Pitts special still do need to fix it a winter project but had to have another biplane for my Saito .62 engine. and think that if this plane is the same size or relatively close to the same size as the Pitts special then i shouldn't have any problems. But like i did with the other biplane i thought i would start a thread on it. and see if i can find out any tips or tricks that this plane may have in store for me..
Included are pic's of the engine that is going to be used and what it was mounted in before. the other plane flew great and did 2 complete patterns before the aileron servo lost contact with the Rx and did a spiraling dive into Terra firma I'm hoping to avoid that with this plane since it is so cool looking.
read the review on this plane and it gave some good tips and info but left some out as well such as elevator control was wondering how it is setup meaning are the two halves connected by a bar or is it a split y type of push rod like on the Lancair?
Should be an interesting build i will be posting pics and little details of the assembly of the plane as i go along here is the summary of this plane from the site..
This is the radio controlled, glow powered, almost ready to fly Ultimate Biplane .46 Scale RC Airplane.
For Intermediate to Advanced Modeler/Flyers. Ultimate Biplane .46 ARF comes with its two wings completely assembled. No more gluing wing-spar pieces and aligning and gluing wing halves together. These wings, like the rest of the kit, are beautifully built, sanded and covered with polyester covering. The kit also comes with mounted cabane struts, a painted fiberglass cowl and molded wheel pants and hardware.
Sounds great just hope its all there when i get it..we shall see..
Upon reading reviews on this plane the plane is actually a worldmodels plane and i checked this link and looks like this is th manual to the same plane..
http://theworldmodels.com/para/instr.../pdf/A009S.pdf
But even this manual leaves alot to be desired and still doesn't give a good explanation of the connection between the elevator halves so i'm assuming at this point since it uses one control rod to one ofthe halves the other one is connected by a rod..
Oh and another version of the manual in web format pretty cool just incase you dont have acobat reader.

The two elevator halves are controlled by a "Y" pushrod.
You make this out of the provided parts.
See section 15 where this is shown.
FYI: This plane has been covered in the past and there are reviews of it up here.

Ah yes section 15 shows the y connection thanks. I didnt realize there were other threads on this plane i couldn't find any and used the search at the bottom. o f the main nitroplanes index.
But i'll do some more searching..
thanks.
I did read the review of the plane on here and other reviews that people have posted on the plane. but are there any assembly threads on this plane? a link to one would be great.
Yes your right there is more info on the plane.

Remember to apply Top Flight Clear Coat on the plane!
This will prevent the trim from pealing.
I've over 200 flights on one, and it's still going strong.
It's STARTING to look a bit like I've flown it, but the covering has held up well.... and that's after 3 crashes.

Yeah, I've seen a few people complain that it "adds weight" or "you can't get a good finish with clear coat", but it works fine for me.
It made a BIG difference on the Ultimate.
I had a prior one where I did not do this, and the trim started coming up fairly quickly.
