Basically that is up to you....
If there is not an obvious location to insert the servos, you may have to fabricate your own servo tray out of ply stock, and affix that to the fuse sides.
If there are existing cutouts, make a small shim out of scrap ply. These need only be small squares and you do not have to do anything as elaborate as in P10 of the manual for the aileron servo... rather glue the small blocks to the underside of the tray to provide a location to drill into. Once dry drill starter holes for the screws and install much like the aileron servo.
You may want to seek the aid of someone used to putting together ARF's if this is a bit confusing.

I just bought P40 60. there is no servo tray for elevator or rudder. Am I expected to fabricate my own? Does that still make the plane an ARF? The instructions point to an area where you might want to locate them. There are no control rods anywhere near long enough.
Are all models this skecthy or did I just pick a winner?

do you keep a open plane box of each model to answer any questions. This might be helpful. I heard you were understaffed to provide this kind of support?Jose told another customer to fabricate his own servo tray. I just am worried about C.G. because the control rods seem short and Ive seen planes that you attach rods to wood dowels. maybe I'm missing those? The instructions are just unclear. Im fairly new to this kind of building but I would like to tackle these kind of problems as they arise.
Thanks again for your help.

I just read the instruction and it's alright. Yes you have to make your own servo tray to put in the servos on your own. The CG remains the same and I don't think it will change anything after you build the servo tray. Yes wood rods are A+.

far better than the ones that came with your plane. good luck!!!

I too am having a great deal of difficulty in putting this model together. I understand I need to make my own tray, my question is hooking up the wooden rods to the rudder, and elevator. Do I have to drill somewhere so that these two rods run from inside to outside of the fuse? This is my first ARF kit, so if your could explain it so an idiot can understand, that would be appreciated.

Good Luck, it is challenging. The servos for the elevator and the rudder actually mount in the fuselage by the tail. The Ip address
for the hanger nine manual are in my last post. They are very helpful, step by step for the novice builder.

My Feedback: (15)
Nitro staff can verify my comments , but the 60 size P40 (not the CMP versions ) but the one that has P51 style retracts , was originally designed by the company that marketed under the sportman avaition brand .
I have over 9 P40 so I sould know because I have these planes .
The original design was very easy to fly and can be flown eletric .
When in doubt on the CG , use 25% of the maximum wing cord measured near the fuse .
If you have never build an arf , get yourself a good book avaiable on any web or hobby shop on tricks and techniques .
It will give you tons of pointers on cutting cowls , pushrods exits ect .
Or look up the original VQ P40 build thread , ton of good points on arf assembly that yuo can use .

Hey I'm new to the plane scene but have been an avid rc boater for some time, what is the deal with the out of stocks? It's like over half of the site is not available. I'm looking forward to picking up a new warhawk but they haven't been available for quite some time.

I have a question about the .60 size P-40. On the one I bought from Nitro Planes the elevator comes in two pieces. I think this is a design flaw. The instructions show one piece. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
