At 14-15lbs AUW ( projected ) you'll need at least 1200 watts PER EDF(!) for good performance.
At the stated 101mm that's a good sized EDF too... A WeMoTec may be appropriate.
With a combo like that, it will be an interesting plane to see and fly.

Steve,
Try this for powering the plane. It got a good write-up in a recent issue of "Sport Flyer."
www.tamjets.com
http://www.tamjets.com/edfunits.php
Here is the complete plug & play set for the TJ100:
http://www.tamjets.com/original/prod...roducts_id=419
You can also see the fans performance on the Tam Jest website.
If the price is more than your wife.......wants to spend then try this:

Also try this:

the fan is here:
http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-267.html
It seems strange that nitro does not sell a fan to go wtih this.

Finished mine today except for thr motors which are in transet. This is probably the worst arf I have put together. Poor fit, just about everything had to be worked to fit. Nice looking plane, hope it flyes as good.

BIG motor.... the picture is deceptive.
On their Forums one member did a wonderful job checking out these EDF's and the motors.
See: [link=http://myhobbycity.com/showthread.php?t=351]EDF Thread.[/link]
He liked the motors, but the 4" EDF needs some work ( e.g. the motor retainer is FAR too weak! ).
He was getting about 2.8kg thrust out of that EDF which makes it viable as a way to power this plane and the StarFire EDF101.
Not bad for a $300.00 power system all told.

The Jet Came Out To 15lbs. With Retracts And (2) 5 Cell Thunder Power Lipo's For The Taxi Test. I Will Run (2) 6 Cells On The Maiden Flight. The 96 Fans Dropped Right In, Anything Bigger Will Require Some Work On The Nuculle's, Look For The Maiden Flight Here Soon.

Excellent!
I saw that the PDF of the Fan was a bit out of line with what the MPI web page shows for the configuration... and that the PDF file was actually fairly pessimistic on the power estimates.
Your watt meter readins bear this out.
It looks like you'll have ample power and that your plane will scream!

Heh, do you have a turbine waiver?
