Hawk Sky - motor wont run
Help! I just put together a new Hawk Sky, and the motor is not working properly. When I give it some throttle, it spins briefly and then will not run again. I have been though the programming modes to be sure I did not do something weird, and made sure the brake was off, and the soft mode is on.
FWIW, the servos are working fine, so the radio is not a problem. Checked the motor with a multimeter, each pair of leads is continuous and no shorts to the motor housing.
This is the only plane I have so, I do not have any parts to swap out.
Just to be sure, the proper sequence for powering up is
1. Make sure the throttle is at 0%
2. Turn on the radio
3. Connect the battery.
4. Wait for the ESC to stop beeping. (although the beeping really seems to be the motor).
Thanks!

RE: Hawk Sky - motor wont run
UPDATE:
Called Nitroplanes tech support and reached the conclusion the ESC is bad out of the box. In the process of returning/getting a replacement.
Great Support!!

RE: Hawk Sky - motor wont run
Well I put a new e-flite 30 amp ESC on a Hawksky with the stock motor and have the same problem if I quickly go from 0 to max on the throttle, but ifI go up on the throttle a little more slowly it works fine. It is a new replacement motor from NP. I have flown with it I just can jack it up quickly.
I think I will get a new motor from Grayson Hobby an V3 to replace this stock motor.
The 30 amp ESC was taken from a plane I upgraded before it ever flew (PZ Corsair)

It doesn't sound like you have a problem with the motor AT ALL!
If the motor turns at any speed, there is nothing wrong with it.
Have you calibrated the throttle?
The E-Flites also require calibration.
Also the timing may need to be set differently.
Are you SURE that the problem is not that the motor seems to "grind" as you run up the throttle... it acts like it is stripping a gear ( it has no gears ).
If so, it's a timing issue... and the ESC probably just needs to be programmed for "Low" or "Medium" timing.
If not, something else is at play, like LVC.
