2nd attempt at Support From Nitro Models... Engine Mounts

Customer Service Folks,

This is my second attempt to get support from Nitro Models. How about it?

I ordered and was sent two sets of Low Vibration Engine Mounts. There were no printed instructions provided with these engine mounts, and they are not intuitive. There is no picture on your website as an example as to how these mounts are installed. If there are no instructions are available, please advise.

These are similiar to almost identical mounts I've seen produced by other manufacturers.

In effect the hard rubber portion mounts under the engine "ears" with the bolts through one side of the retaining plate.

The other side affixes to the mount...

I've tried them, but I find the Dubro Anti-Vibration mounts to be much better...

Opjose,

Thank you for your help.

I ordered these mounts more on a "try-it" basis because they looked functional. I had not seen this style before. The mounts were sent in clear plastic packaging without any paperwork or instructions what-so-ever. When I contacted Nitro Models, I received an automated e-mail directing me to the RCU forum. I never received an answer. Today, I used their online chat help. "Ivan" told me that motor oil doesn't come with directions either... Cute, eh? Well, guess what, I can send them back on my own dime AND pay for the order's shipping and handling. $7.75, plus another $5.00 or so to send them back. The mounts were $9.95 (x2 sets) to begin with. So, some $13-$15 just to see that there is no instructions with something that you ordered.

Well, I got off cheap. A lot cheaper than the pages and pages of complaints and dissatisfaction I read covering three forums! Sure, some are satisfied because Nitro threw them a bone. But I really wish I had read the forum before dealing with these salvage dealers.

Salvage?

A lot of the stuff in this hobby is "engineer it yourself".

Dubro doesn't supply instructions with most of their mounts either.
World Models sells various similiar mounts, as do other vendors, and they too do not provide directions.

That doesn't make them culpable... they are merely supplying parts at low cost.

Ivan should have told you he didn't know how it works though, instead of coming off as he did. That was dumb.

I'd direct you to the pictures of where I saw how this mount works, but I don't remember where I saw it offhand.

After I saw how it is to be installed, I opted for the Dubro mounts.

Salvage?
Yeah, salvage. The saving and selling of something otherwise useless. Nitro acts as middle-men to whomever makes whatever, in this case model airplanes/cars/boats and accessories for such, buyer beware.

A lot of the stuff in this hobby is "engineer it yourself".
After forty-plus years in the hobby (kit and scratch building) I sorta figured that out... ;)

I just went to the Du-bro website and looked at their engine mounts. There are exploded graphics as to how their mounts go together. I also picked through a dozen packets of "bits-and-pieces" (blind nuts and bolts, wheel collars, control rod ends, etc.) in my shop from Du-Bro, Sig, Sullivan, Goldberg, and Great Planes, and ALL the packets have graphics of the intended use of the enclosed product. The Nitro mounts came in clear plastic container. No instructions as to what goes where. Sure, I can assume, or "engineer it yourself" to make the mount work. No problem. Although, if I were in a store, I would not have bought it if I brought it to the clerk and asked, "are there instructions?", and had the clerk shrug their shoulders. Which is what happened in this case. It boils down to paying for the privilege of taking a look, as it were.

That doesn't make them culpable... they are merely supplying parts at low cost.
As the lawyers say: "maybe..." And as you know, everyday, the gavel comes down on some ridiculous ruling. I'm just surprised Nitro would send something out without any paperwork or instructions. I guess their philosophy is no instructions = no involvement or liability in the outcome.

Ivan should have told you he didn't know how it works though, instead of coming off as he did. That was dumb.
Actually, Ivan's demeanor and attitude in representing his company did me a favor. I also sent an e-mail to John. I do not expect a response. Like I said, I got off for cheap (2-sets - $28). I could have spent hundreds of bucks and gotten the same (non)response. I'll bring the Nitro mounts to the flying field and see if anyone wants them.

I'd direct you to the pictures of where I saw how this mount works, but I don't remember where I saw it offhand. After I saw how it is to be installed, I opted for the Dubro mounts.
Opjose, I honestly appreciate your time and effort here. You tried, and did, help me. That's what I really like about our hobby.

Thank you,

EJWash
