RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
The best proceedure is to PM John here ( nitrostaff1 ) if you need help with a purchase.
I'm a bit surprised that the wing hold downs were not gone over well enought to prevent such problems, buy the experienced builder. |

|
RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
To PM John, find one of his posts ( nitrostaff1 ), and click on his name on the left.
In the subsequent screen, look for the "PM" balloon, and use it to send him a message. - The wing hold down bolt areas are usually one of the strongest parts of any plane. Some of these ARF's come with hardwood re-inforcement blocks for the wing hold downs, and I've seen people miss having to install them or not knowing what they blocks were for. Most experienced builders will also use some mechansim to spread out loads on areas subject to stress or reuse. I use large fender washers on the hold down bolt head areas to prevent wear and tear, and to spread out the load on the wood. |

RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
Honestly, correct me if I'm wrong. But If you upgraded the parts to "Better, stronger" ones, which broke off. Wouldn't you be at fault?

RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
honestly there is know way you ever built an ARF because if you did you wouldnt be trying to tell me its my fault. look i didnt design the plane. when i bought the plane i took it to Alex he is one of the best teachers in are club. MERCER COUNTY RADIO SOCIETY (MCRCS.COM) we are one of the top 4 clubs in new jersey i listen to people that have 35 years building and flying he told me when he saw it. he would o told me not to by that plane because its a piece of crap. o ya just so you understand i would not purchase this plane again but if they replaced it me and alex can fix the flaw in the design it seems that you guys have all the answers and you dont even listen to what i wrote. i told you the wing hold down broke that means the plane was not the problem it was the wing if i got another plane ther is nothing we would change on the way we built it except the plywood they use to make the nub is not thick enough that is y it broke and we can fix it no problem |
RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
The wing hold down is a hunk of wood you install to prevent the bolts from boring through the soft wood of the wing.
Installed properly there is very little chance of it breaking with any ease. Typically the fuselage area where the blind nuts hold the bolts, tend to go first. I've had several students show up with these planes at the field, and they have flown well and w/o any problems what-so-ever. |
RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
WHEN I WENT TO RETREIVE MY PLANE FROM THE WOODS
THE HOLD DOWN WAS GONE RIPED FROM THE WING AND THE BACK END OF THE WING, WERE THE BOLTS HOLD THE WING ON TO THE PLANE WAS STILL INTACK AS A MATTER OF FACT THE BOLTS WERE STILL IN THERE PLACE WITH THE PART OF THE PLANE THAT THEY BOLT INTO. THATS FINE YOU HAVE STUDENTS THAT FLY THOSE PLANES ALL THE TIME AND I BELEAVE YOU. BUT WERE TLKING ABOUT THE PLANE THAT I WAS FLYING NOT THERES IT IS VERY SIMPLE IF THE HOLD DOWN RIPPED OUT OF THE WING THEN SOMETHING WAS FLAWED WHEN IT WAS MADE THATS IT THERE IS NO OTHER REASON WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN |
RE: REPLACE MY SUPER TRAINER 60
Sounds like a building error. Don't get your hopes up on a replacement.
