CMP Extra 300, 65" wingspan
I just aquired this bird. I do not know it's history.
http://www.nitroplanes.com/cmpex309065a.html It looks like I have an older version from what is currently depicted; The canopy is clear instead of tinted. The "purple" in the picture is more of a blue. The decals are slightly different. It doesn't have any lettering on it. But the wingspan measures up. Sadly, I have no documentation. So I have a few questions. 1. What is recommended CoG? 2. What is recommended throws? 3. Is there any thrust line (side thrust, down thrust) needed? 4. Any recommendations for servos? (torque, speed, etc.) 5. Any idea what the coating is? manufacture.. I got a little hanger rash on it, and I don't want to recover the entire plane. Thanks in advance. vmsguy |

Thanks in advance. vmsguy It's a nice flying plane. Be prepared though, it will seem to float on by during landings... Keep a little throttle on. I have a HUGE 3800mAh NiMH battery pack on mine, which adds substantial weight. I notice that it will drop a wing on stall or snap roll on a pull to loop if I have too much elevator movement dialed in. 1. I don't have the manual in front of me, but I'll post the C.G. later 2. I went with everything I could eek out on the throws, e.g. 150% servo movement on the TX, etc. then I dialed down the low rates to be 70% of that on the ailerons and rudder and 60% of that on the elevator, with 45% expo all around. But really this is your preferance. 3. Down and side thrust is already built into the firewall. 4. Standard servos all around will do, but I went with inexpensive ( 9.00/ea ) SG5010 servos @ 144oz/in. 5. Coating = "standard" China Coat You should be able to match the colors with Mono or Ultacoat. At worst "accent" any hanger rash by putting in sweaping trim curves to hide any damage. I recommend that after you've fixed the covering, you remove the canopy and apply several light layers of TopFlite Clear Coat spray. This will seal the trim and seams, and prevent the covering from coming up. Glow fuel attacks the glues used, and will dissolve the adhesives with a few exposures... Once exposed the adhesive turns into something that feels like loose rubber cement and lets go. The Clear Coat spray prevents this. My plane looks brand new after 150 flights or more. |
