Default OS 108

I recently purchased a used os 108, pulled the backplate and found a few small metal shavings, i think they came from the bottom of the connecting rod contacting the inside of the crankcase around bottom dead center. the bearings have a small "rough" spot in them. can I run this engine the way it is, or should I send it in to have bearings done?

Default RE: OS 108

You may want the bearings replaced. As far as shavings found in the engine, we'd not know why. The connecting rod should not touch any part of the case when the engine's running normally.
