Default Os 46fx

I have a situation where my 46FX starts easily, after a moderate warm up at 1/4 throttle it revs from low to high with excellent transition (instantaneous!). I taxi out, with good throttle response between 1/4 and 3/4 bumps, give it full throttle for take off and it sputters out. I do the same thing every time and start it back up, tweak it a wee bit leaner and then she cooperates. Trouble is, I can tell the lack of power I have in hovers when I try to pull out vertically when the tweak is made. Only thing left is my low speed mixture and I've pushed that pretty far to the lean end to get good transitions. I live in AZ where it's dry, I saw a lot of planes do the same thing at a fun fly the other day when it was windy.....any ideas?

Jack,
Sounds like either she's still too rich on the low end or, very possibly, she's due for a rebuild and that's why she won't hold a good tune and why she's getting hot and losing power in flight.

Thx, I'm on the 3rd gallon of fuel with this one so I'm dont think it's rebuild time unless of course the instructions are wrong on the break-in procedure as stated somewhere else here. I'll lean out the low end even further and see what happens. By the way, with the instructions wrong on the .46FX, what would you do for a .61FX brand new?

Jack,
With all the OS 2 strokes, I break in just lean of 4-cycling. This allows proper seating, etc.

It is possible your engine's liner never seated properly if it was run heavily in 4-cycling.
