Default 40 LA new sleeve is different?

I just replaced a piston and sleeve on an old 40 LA that I inherited and flew a lot for a couple of years. I noticed that the new sleeve has one less port opening (2 instead of 3) from the crankcase (the bigger, more square-like opening is missing). It looks like the sleeve may have been redesigned.

I have two questions.......

1. Did I get the right sleeve?
(Hope I did, think I did)

2. Will I lose much power?
(The engine was already a bit underpowered for the plane it was on)

Thanks.

The original O.S. Max .40 LA engines may have had a port in the sleeve cut, but the crankcase wasn't cut to accomodate the sleeve. They have gotten around to making the sleeves without the cutout. You should notice absolutely no difference in performance.

Thanks for the reply.

I took a look at the motor again tonight. The crankcase was cut with a third intake channel which is now blocked due to the missing port in the sleeve.

I almost can't believe that the motor will have the same power with the one missing port. I guess the only way to find out is to fire it up and fly it. If it doesn't cut it, upgrade to a 46 something or other....
