Default OS .46 fx what rpm range..high+ low?

i have a .46 fx that i bought used and i dont have the manual...i was wondering what a safe idle should be around and WOT

im using a 12x6 master airscrew and im getting about 10,000-10500 rpm's at WOT...should it be higher or is it the prop im using that's not giving me more rpm's?

20% coolpower fuel
os 8 plug
pitts muffler
GP rv-4

the engine is hasnt had much use but im not sure how much airtime its' had

We normally prop the O.S. Max .46 FX to turn in the high-12,000's. That means either you need a lower-pitch propeller, or one with less diameter for the pitch you have. A 12 x 6 prop is LARGE for a .46-size engine.

We'd suggest an 11 x 6 prop if you must use a 6" pitch.

In most types of use, we'll see an idle RPM of 2,600 or lower, and a peak RPM of the high-12,000's.

i don't need a high pitch prop, thats all that i had to see how the engine runs....does that mean i should be safe with a 11x5-4?....apc or airscrew?

An 11 x 5 may make the engine turn too high. You don't want to get above 14,000 RPM, unless you want an engine with a shorter life.
