Default My OS 10 wont run right

I bought a used OS 10 FP from a guy at work to put on my glider. He says it was hardly used and it looks it. I made sure the carb was clean before I put it on the plane. Now my problem it runs fine, good idle, also good in the middle but when I go to wide open the RPM's start dropping. I noticed that if I richen it up it gets a little better. Does this mean that it is leaning out on top?
Also I took the middle section out of the muffler out is that OK? I was hoping it would help the problem but it didn't. I was also hoping to get a few more RPM's if I could ever get it to run right. Oh and it has a new plug to, OS #8 I think.
Thanks Dave

baddog,

Sorry your question got missed.

Your post doesn't mention what propeller size you're trying to run. The .10-size engine should be running a 7x5 or 6 propeller. If you're running one much bigger, then you're trying to use too much prop, and this could well be a source of your difficulty.

The O.S. Max .10 FP engine is a bushing-type engine, and will benefit from a fuel that contains castor oil. Nitro can be 15%-20% with no problems.

Make sure your glow plug is good. Just because it glows when the battery is applied doesn't mean it's good. It could still be contaminated enough to not work properly.

If the compression is good, the plug is good, and the fuel is good, the engine will fire and run.
