They are the same engine. A 1.08 FSR IS the "BX-1". O.S. used both names.

The O.S. Max 1.08 FSR has been discontinued. The 1.20 AX has replaced it.

I have a used bx1(108), what is the fitting on the back of the crankcase used for? The engine continues to run when I close the carb while running it on a test stand, if I pinch the fuel line attached to the fitting on the crankcase when I close the carb it helps shut down the engine. How much Nitro and prop size recommended? Thanks!

The stock O.S. Max 1.08 FSR had no fitting on the rear cover. That would have been added by somebody at a later date to provide crankcase pressure to operate a pump or to pressurize the tank. It should be blocked all the time you're running the engine. It will tend to be too lean, otherwise.

Mine came used this way too. So if its hooked up to a pump its considered "blocked" or is it best to just fill the nipple and be done with it? Mine came with one of those pumps so I was wondering if it was worth the hassle.

Also do you use muffler pressure to the tank if you are going to run the pump?

Thanks for your expertise Bill.

I am searching for a carb to use on an old OS BX-1. I have the rear needle valve assembly but the entire carb is missing. Anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks

You'll need the #7D-RN carb, O.S. Part #29081010. Unfortunately, we'd not know where you may be able to obtain one.

i used to use a 14x6 on mine the Super Maple props, by todays standards its probably a bit small, and i used to use std 10% nitro.... i remember my dad purchased his first bx-1 from tower hobbies when they first came out in the early 80's for 89 bucks, i believe we still have the invoice
