Default LA engines being replaced?

In my area the various flying clubs are organizing pylon racing to start up next spring based on a standard engine and the Four Star .40 airframe. One of the clubs has already been racing for the past couple of years using the .40 LA as the standard engine. With the .40 LA having been discontinued recently we are trying to decide what engine to make the new "standard" for our events.

We would be interested in sticking with an O.S. engine for its reliability and ease of getting parts but we don't want to choose an engine that is going to be discontinued any time soon either. The .46 LA is still presently available in the natural color with the blue version discontinued. Can you tell me if the LA line is being replaced? The basic concept behind our equipment choice is the keep the racing fun and affordable. Is there an inexpensive replacement coming out that hasn't been announced yet? Any advice or insight you can provide would help in our planning would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Default RE: LA engines being replaced?

The O.S. Max "LA" line of engines is not being discontinued, except for the .40 LA, which has been. All of the other ones are still available and in production. They no longer have the blue coating on them, though. They are now produced in the natural aluminum.

O.S. has not stated whether the .40 LA will be replaced or not.
