Vspec tuning
I have a couple of questions as I have never run a turbo head before.
1)WHen I prime the motor and then attach the glow plug sometimes the motor will completely start up on its own or at least fire up for a revolution. Is this normal? 2) Do you always need to have either the blue or the red insert in at all times when running? 3) The low speed needle that the manual says should be about one turn in from flush seems way rich, I saw a review in xrc and the vspec low needle was set at 1 3/4 turns out from the bottom. What is the normal end running range for the low speed needle? Thank you in advance |
RE: Vspec tuning
If the piston is left above the exhaust port, then some fuel/air mixture in the cylinder can fire when you put on the glow plug battery connector.
The inserts are used to 'tune' the engine for different types of running. Without them, the engine won't draw fuel well or respond to throttle. The book values for needle setting are only starting points. You have to work with them to get them set to the way you want the engine to run. Where they wind up is always correct, as long as the engine's running well. |
