BGX Start problem upside-dow
Hi all.
I've just build a 2600 mm Pilatus Porter I used a BGX engine with KS 50 Tuned Pipe and 17x10 3 blade propeller (due to small ground distance !!) I've got a lot of power. We pull up 5 m gliders taking off with less than half trottle. But ),ve got a problem It is very hard to start the engine and often the only way to star is turning the plab e upside down, so to have carburettor looking up !! Can you suggest a way to solve the problem ??? (PS: Sorry for my poor english) Denis (Italy) |
RE: BGX Start problem upside-dow
Any glow engine that is upside-down can be difficult to start. That is because the fuel will go into the glow plug and make ignition difficult. You may try to start with much less priming. Also, an electric starter can be a big help, if you are not using one now.

RE: BGX Start problem upside-dow
Problem seems to be exactly the opposite. It seems that fuel does not reach the engine !!
Only trying to hard prime i manage to start. I think i must find an electric starter big enought to make BGX turn !!! |
RE: BGX Start problem upside-dow
I just got to the point where i am ready to instal the bgx, but I have a question there are two ways to mount this motor radiul mount or with the motor mount . I have a gene soucy and i am lost how to mount the engine also there is no diagram that I can trace to mount the motor .

RE: BGX Start problem upside-dow
You can use any engine mount that works. The radial mount or a regular beam-type mount. It all depends upon what fits into the aircraft, and what fits onto the firewall.
