Difficulty getting new motor started.
Having difficulty trying to get my new 18 CV-RX started. The carb settings are correct, glow plug is fine, fuel is getting to the carb, the motor though tight does turn over. What should I try next???

RE: Difficulty getting new motor started.
Thanks for the reply. I've now managed to get the engine started. It runs for a few seconds and then quits before I remove the glow plug igniter. What should I do to keep it running?

RE: Difficulty getting new motor started.
If the engine fires and then quits, it's likely not getting fuel. You'll have to see why. The needles could be too lean, there could be restrictions in the fuel system, air leaks in the fuel system, and so on. If the engine will fire, though, then it will run if you can get fuel to it. Likely, you're getting it primed and then it's burning off the prime.

RE: Difficulty getting new motor started.
Thanks again for your assistance.
I'm still trying to trouble shoot to get the motor started. Another question: Does the mixture control valve need to be turned in .5 or 1.5 turns after being flush??? |
RE: Difficulty getting new motor started.
The problem has been identified. The flywheel was not fitted onto the crank shaft tight enough. I ended up messing up the clutch shoes and springs as result. So.... A lesson learned for an novice.
