What engine to use

Hi,

I'm just about to start on a warbird model of a KMP FW190. It is Length: 57"
Wingspan: 70.5" and weighs about 15-16 lbs ready to fly. I am a two stroke fan and was thinking of using either an OS 120AX or an OS 160FX.

I would be grateful for your advice on my engine selection.

Regards,

Sarah

RE: What engine to use

Either engine is a good engine. Now....what size engines are recommended by the kit maker? That's where I'd start, and then put in an engine within the engine size range the recommend.

Hi Bill,

The manufacturer, KMP, states: 'Engine: 1.20 4 cycle or equivalent gas or electric'. I would prefer a two stroke but I'm unsure what would be the most suitable, I'd be grateful for your suggestion

Sarah

RE: What engine to use

A .91-size engine, or even a new .75-size engine would be equivalent in power to most 1.20 four-stroke engines. Here are two suggestions:

OSMG0575 17400 .75AX AIR ENGINE US$339.99
OSMG0591 19021 .91 FX RINGED W/MUFFLER US$349.99

These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells O.S. Max engines and accessories.
