Another AX46 Question

I have come into possession of two crashed damaged 46ax's, both have broken crankcase castings and neither have over 15 hours of run time.

My question is - with a new crankcase unit, can a "rebuild" be accomplished without specialized tooling? Should tooling beyond the regular small scale items be needed, could you identify what is necessary and (if appropriate) sources for the items? Might OS service be a cost effective alternative?

Any other comments, suggestions, etc. will be welcomed.

Regards,
Bill

RE: Another AX46 Question

Yes, you don't need special tools. Just a screwdriver and a hex driver. To remove the bearings, you will need to heat the case. They'll just drop out when the case is over 200-250 degrees F. Heat the new case to install the bearings. Don't heat the bearings. They should be at room temperature during reinstallation.
