Just curious ...

What does FX and AX stand for in the OS range of engines?

They don't have any particular meaning. They are just engine design-series designators.

What is the difference in my FX and the newer AX? I'm assuming the case and mounting dimensions are the same, but is there a difference internally or powerwise?

The main difference between the FX and AX engines, other than styling, is the needle assembly. It's fixed on the FX, and is bolt-on on the AX. Performance between the two is about the same.

hello Bax. I have an OS .55AX (new) and have a question or two.

here is some info: on a Aeroworks Edge 540T mounted at a 45 deg., using Morgan's cool power 10%, everything is stock with an MA 13X6 prop, and OS # plug.

1. I followed the break in process and have finished 10 flights and the motor seem to be losing power. I closed the needle valve until its leanest point and richen it up about a quarter turn. I have changed the plug with little change. Have any ideas?[sm=71_71.gif]. thanks in advance, V.

ok, i started taking a look and inspecting all the bolts and looking for loose or cracked parts and found that the four bolts for the head where loose. It appears this may be the problem. I will test it tomorrow and let you know.

You may also want to try a smaller propeller. A 13 x 6 is rather large for a .46-size engine. We use a 10 x 7 or 11 x 6 prop for most running.

Should i go by the manual's suggestion (12x7-13x8), or is it just a suggestion? thanks for your reply V.
