Recommendation...
I would like to recommend that all you internal combustion model boaters now carry a leaf blower in your cars along with your boat. That way when someone complains about the noise from your boat, you can just fire up the leaf blowe for a comparison.

If only it were that easy...

RE: Lost my lake
We have to find a purpose to run the boats.
1)Put a depth sounder on it and occasionally use the boat to collect water samples. Lake studies baby!
2)It's a rescue boat for swimmers.. dont mind the huge prop.
3)You work for the military and you will have to shoot them, if they ask any questions or do not cooperate. (wear fatigues)

One of the public parks I run my r/c boats in just put up a sign that says no more motorcycles or gas powered off roaders. I,m just wondering when they will stop me from runing my boats too.

Maybe, maybe not. They may be more worried about the bikes and ATC's tearing up the ground and causing erosion. Ask someone that is a park Ranger or your local Parks Dept.

I may be headed down the same road. i was out Saturday. I run near some stables and a lady came by on her horse and asked me if "that was one of those loud boats" Tried the response of no worse than a wead wacker. I don't think she bought it. I can only hope[:@]

just offer to wack her weeds, with a tuned weedy thats got a tuned pipe and no muffler, and rev it to the high 18000`s, it might make her listen

RE: Lost my lake
I just got myself a weedwacker to clear the woods by the lake. [link=http://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-String-Trimmer-35cc-Model/dp/B0001P4QF4]Problem is I got one that claims to be 50% quieter[/link]. Reading this post - I think I may have to take off the muffler (or at least make her louder - tuned pipe may do the trick) so the lady accross the pond wont find my boats to be as loud as the trimmer.
I am sure if I try not to look like I am enjoying myself it will help. [>:]
(I am sure it varies by town and state though anyone know what (or have experience with) being a land owner and having a neighbour who complains about the noise. I own one side of the pond and she has the other. (I hope she is deaf but am just preping in case she is not). I have already got permission from everyone else. I may have to stop by with some flowers and introduce myself before I have a chance / reason to be on her bad side. (couldnt hurt).
The guy at the top end of the pond has 4 horses and said its no problem - he said it would be good for them to hear noises like that so they spook less near traffic (nice way to look at it).

RE: Lost my lake
Definately move to Canada. I can think of no less than a dozen spots within a 30 minute drive of me for R/C boating. A few of these places aren't near any residential whatso-ever, or are permitting full sized gas powered boats already.

if youre looking for a body of water to run in, theres a free version of google earth thatll get you down to 25meter (i think) resolutuin, and its clear enough to not only find a lake/pond, but all of the roads to get there!! i thought that here in japan i was gonna have to get shafted with 2 crappy ponds, but i looked around, and found one on the base that never gets used!!
