I'm curious about the ages of RCU users. Some posts suggest young kids while others seem older. No offense meant to any age group. I'm 64 yrs. young and trying to get back into the hobby.

RE: Age
I'm 18, I have been with R/C cars since I was about 8, I am now just starting to to get into R/C planes :)

RE: Age
58 on Friday, much younger mentally. :D
We seem to be an older crowd but we do attract the younger ones slower than us geezers.
I just rolled in from a race in Hobart, IN and a lot of the townfolk showed up to watch us race. I talked to people of all ages there from teens to quite a few that were born before me. Many were interested in getting into RC boating but no hobby shops nearby.

RE: Age
Damn, are we getting personnal or what:D
I started building R/C boats almost 30 years ago while I was a student at the now closed naval training base in Millington TN, plastic models prior to that. That should put you in the ballpark;)

RE: Age
It wasn't so bad until a little over a week ago when I got a haircut and found an old man under all of that hair!

My posts suggest approximately 14 years of age but I'm 23 on paper. Started RC many moons ago, but not as many as others.

one month younger than our president. He was born in August and I in September 1961. Unless someone proves otherwise He was born in Hawaii, I was born during Hurricane Carla in Houston Texas. ;)

I am not 40 yet.... And not ready to be either.

RE: Age
I was OK at 40, 30 was the one that got to me. At that time is was "I'm halfway to dead if not closer", "What have I done the first 30 years of my life?" and all kinds of other weird thoughts. It's not exactly like you have to give up the jeans for Sansa-belt pants.

RE: Age
I have to laugh - I too got stuck at 29 and kept it for a few years. I also had a good excuse - I was flying to Australia to see family and the best airfare deal happened to be one where I would lose my 30th birthday in the date line as I went. So as I saw it - I did not have a 30th birthday (or cake - it really does not count without cake!!). So I stayed 29 a few more years - until it started sounding creepy.

My problem with turning 40 is that I remember both my parents 40th birthdays well (I was 17 or so at the time) where my son will have just turned 1 before my birthday. Guess thats what happens when you start so late.
I am just not in the mood for a big surprise party - be better to save it and see if I reach 50.

At least I get the bonus of fireworks and a party where ever I happen to be on my birthday - each and every year!! (One advantage of being born the night that everyone stays up late drinking and partying!!) ;)

RE: Age
So, you're saying that you're not going to turn 30 until you get some cake? [sm=lol.gif]

blizard05 06-07-2011 12:11 PM

RE: Age
