true its like electronic devices too.
We had an ancient Zenith TV one of the 1st color models I was told, that was bought way before I was born. It still was in perfect working order in 1995 or so when we finally threw it out(it was downgraded to a basement TV long before). We went trough 5-6 other TV's that died in various ways (pictures shrinking, shorting out, etc) but that zenith was still good. Probably one of the reasons they went under no one needed to buy replacements My grandmas fridge lasted 35 years our last one was like 9 years when it croaked.
IMO it seems the older cars needed less work seeing there was less to break in them, and they weren't as highly tuned as current
My grams old 78 oldsmobile still runs fine, its just that the body, and frame around it rotted away due to the climate or it would still be drivable(seriously if it hit a pothole it would probably lose a chunk of the car). Compared to my 98 monte crapper I think my 98's had way more work engine, and electronic repairs done on it in the 4 years I've owned it than hers did in 25 years.

it really all just comes down to luck and maintenance.
just remember ALL CARS ARE JUNK, it ''they'' wanted to, cars would last 300K+ miles without any problems, but who would buy a new car and where is the money gained from parts?

foreign cars = way better than domestic cars. This is not true for all makes and all models but it is for most of them. The cars just handle and drive way better overall.

i belive it, my friend has a GE fridge that is round, has a metal door with a metal locking leaver, and little seperation between the freezer and fridge.
works great! i seriously think old appliances where made to survive nukes. i own a collection of fans dating from 1980 all the way down to 1924 and they all work perfectly with no signs of wear and work 100X better than today's crap (with less power consumption)
dino-tec for the win!

American cars that tend to actually hold their own and even give the Japanese and German counterparts of the same category a good run for their money are the more performance cars of the American makes, the pony and muscle cars. Such cars that are not junk are Camaros and Mustangs, and I would also put Challengers into that mix. The German counterparts are nicer and more tightly fitting, but they are much more expensive and performance wise, the American muscle cars are actually keeping up with them
Also, American pick-up trucks are still hard for the imports to contend with. Chevy & GM still being the best pick-ups, followed by Ford trucks, and then Dodge. Sure, the Toyota Tundra is holding its own, but the American big three do make some damn nice trucks .

I would not say that. As far as the compact cars, yes, the Japanese and German cars totally kick the ass end of American compacts.

Tube amplifiers, they are like living dinos, but they are just unbelievably awesome. Some of them have been around for 80 or more years. Anything that was built a long time ago was deigned to last forever.

how do you fix a tube amp? fix the broken tube, a fuse or a transformer, how do you fix a SS amp? buy a new one, we sure do live "green" dont we? seems with things lasting longer we were alot greener.
thats the problem with cars today, too complex, too many computers, instead of replacing a relay, you replace a computer

Old stuff is built so much better, and is so much better to work on.
Peavey, and Mesa Boogie make the best stuff right here in the USA.
To show you how far they have gone, 50 years a go, the inside of a guitar looked like this.
Today the look like this.
Which do you think is easier to fix?

... i would say the bottom one because you replace the whole damn thing
active pups might be nice for some things, but warmth and sound from passive buckers is hard to beat.

The warm creamy sound of a pushed-to-its-limits-then-pushed-harder sound of a tube amp is amazing, tubes need to be pushed to sound their best. They are LOUD and proud of it.

For the most part all but two or three were chevys, 62 impala ss,3-65 supersports ,66impala,66 chevele . I did have a 46 willys wagon but i put a 327 chevy motor in her. I had a 73 lotus that was set up for track but i drove it on the street,i have size 13 shoes and the peddels in the small car were fun to shift hitting the clutch and the brake at the same time.lol I owned a 73-m-1 mustang with all of the growned efects but i liked my chevys better . I now dont owen any cars at all just a 97 road king harley and the company i work for buys me a new van every year and lets me use it for any thing i want. I know were i can buy a 58 jeepster and i think it would run great with a 350 in it . lol joe

Unless you are talking about Kia, or other really crappy Korean cars, 'foreign' cars are made in the US. Toyota, Honda... Yep, all American. Most are even designed over here to compete with the 'domestics', with VERY little in common to their over seas counterparts. I use to work for Toyota, 2% of the Tundra was actually Japanese... and that 2% was just random generic parts.

I understand and know this information. However, they are still foreign companies. Notice I did not name specifics, I was absolutely being vague for good reason - i have not driven every american (company) car and every foreign (company) car.
