RE: Dinner time
frets24....that looks awfully scrummy!!
You've given me ideas mate, and it's finally cooling down enough to get the smoker/grill fired up again.

RE: Dinner time
My favorite seafood to eat is the ones I actually fish for and catch.
I'll eat anything seafood except 'Uni'. It's just wrong. [:'(]
Thinking about what to do tonight...[&:]...will take pics and post.

Tuna, halibut, sole, mackerel, king fish, wahoo, snapper, grouper, yellowtail, salmon, sand bass, calico bass, California Sheeps Head, ling cod, white sea bass, cod, haddock, pollock, red rock fish, bonito, monkfish....uhmmmm, I'm sure I'm missing a bunch, but that looks good so far.
There really isn't any selection of fresh water stuff available here due to the lack of natural fresh water sources where I am. I can probably get about one third of what I've listed here in Dubai. A lot of the other stuff I've listed would be things I can easily catch in San Diego, depending on the season.
I also love shell fish and other crustaceans, however, these tend to be high in cholesterol and is one of those things the doctor asked me to seriously cut back on...[&o]

RE: Dinner time
Well....I came home with a couple of nice pieces of salmon that I was going to marinade and bbq, along with some burgers for the kids.
Got home, and the mother in law had already ordered pizza....[:@]
Oh well...fire the coals tomorrow then. [&:]

SEAFOOD

Sushi, sushi, more sushi and sashimi...Love it. Shrimp are probably my favorite. Especialy BIG ones fresh off the boat. As far as I'm concerned the less done to seafood or freshwater fare the better. The natural unenhanced flavors seem best. With the exception of a bit of smoke, butter, lemon and perhaps some garlic. My favorite is fish straight from the lake or sea, gutted only and stuck on a stick over a fire. Peel off the scales with the skin and dig in!!!
Tommygun32's list above just makes my mouth water......

Neither of us felt like cooking so it's into the 'fridge for left overs; She likes hers cold and I nuke mine back to room temp at least. Coffee for me and a fresh pot of tea for her. The boys can fend for themselves which means chips/crisps and salsa most likely

Sea Snake?? I thought Unagi is Eel. Can't imagine eating any sea snake from around here as they are extremely poisonous. Then again, so are rattle snakes and cobras and people eat those. I have tried rattle snake myself, agreed, quite good actually.

RE: Dinner time
Tonight's dinner.
A Vietnamese / Thai inspired noodle bowl with a very flavorful broth including veggies and seafood.
This one rocked and had a nice kick to it.

Don't quite know what to make of you...Tex-mex, Thai, Veitnamese, good ol' American burgers. Quite the range there; And it all looks so good!!!
Just a salad and some chicken beasts for us tonight. Pan seared in butter, olive oil and a bit of black pepper and sage.

RE: Dinner time
I've been lucky enough to have traveled quite a bit around this little pebble we call Earth. And cooking is a big passion of mine. I read cookbooks like novels. I must have over 200 of them in my collection.
I've also been lucky enough to work in my fair share of professional kitchens, so I've picked up quite a bit there as well.
We're heading to Italy over the Christmas / New Year period. I already have a list of places to visit from people I know who know where to go there. Only the local places for the 'real' Italian food. No tourist traps [&:].
Probably going to have to pick a few more books up while there.

Very cool. Good Italian food is an art unto itself...Something the Greeks in Charlotte need to figure out. This is a screwy city for restaurants....Allof the Italian food is done by Greeks, the German food is done by Brits, The Tex-Mex is done by Chinese, and the Japanese food is done by latinos......Go figure

RE: Dinner time
That's just strange frets....[&:]
Tonight was Sloppy Joes and Salad. I was tired and didn't really feel like spending too much time cooking.
I have been cooking/simmering Boracho Beans since last night though.
