Default The coolest basement I've ever been in

Some get together, come as you are, all are welcome. Lots of local old timers and drag racers as well as tow of Art Arfons' old vehicles! There was so much rare and classic machinery in one basement, accessed only through a nondescript side entrance leading down to the basement of this upholstery place. Absolutely amazing. I spent hours there, and killed my phone taking pictures, or I may never have left! Not to mention all the old advertising and classic this and thats everywhere. And it was all one mans collection. Like some kind of local smaller-scale Jay Leno with a drag racing history! Amazing I tell you!

One of my favorites there was Art Arfons' "Cyclops" jet powered drag car. the biggest engine ever strapped into a 1/4 mile car, boasting 17,500Hp (NO TYPO THERE!!!) and reaching speeds of +320 mph. Art is a local legend here that not too many people outside the car scene knew of. I had the good fortune of meeting him and shaking hands with this mad man before he passed away a couple years ago. Also, Bonneville record holder, of course!

Last batch of pics here. I wish I had more, this is only a small portion of it all, as I am missing 5 giant rooms worth of cars here! I was not expecting this, I was grabbed up at the last minute by another local racing legend and told we were "going to go to a buffet with a few classic cars around. Oh no don't worry, it's free!"

XD It wasn't my first time seeing things from Arfons either, I could take you right to his private shop right here in Akron on Pickle Road! He has passed away, I've met him before, but now his son Tim owns the old shop, and I see him out there all the time. His brother Walts shop is still right up the road from it to! We are lucky to have that family as part of our local history. I mean, come on, I touched the friggin Cyclops and Green Monster, ya know? Haha

Here is one for you, SH. This is Art's old shop I had mentioned. You can even see his old personal centerfuge in the grassy area on the right! This location is about 15 minutes from me right now. I have had the pleasure of meeting Art, and while at the little gathering the other day I met a guy that had helped both Art and Breedlove at various times in the past. Was a real treat getting to meet these old timers! Not to mention Akron Arlen was there, and the guy from the Handy Andy show.

Edit: Forgot to add the pic! Oops!
