I'm trying to get into the headphone game and try to pick up a nice set and an amp/dac. Looking to spend around 300 or so for everything.
I do a lot of gaming
Listen to Metal mostly
Ear pads have to be velour
If anyone has a suggestion, much appreciated.

I am when it comes to home theater stuff, but not so much with headphones. I have an older pair of Bose headphones which are good enough, but I'm sure there are REALLY nice ones out there too. I simply can't bring myself to spend more than a couple hundred at most on headphones. Most of the time I only use them when I'm out, and then I like the size and convenience of earbuds.
I can't walk around in public with headphones the size of small tires.[&:]

If I'm not using my Genelec Speakers while doing audio productions at work, I use a set of Senheisser HD 280 Pro.
These I bought myself (not company supplied) and for the money are brilliant. Excellent response, clean, clear and very 'neutral'.

Audiophile is such a dirty word lol. I like my music loud and accurate. As someone mentioned previously I too use a pair of Senheisser HD 280 Pro's and I'm very happy with them. My son has an expensive pair of Audio Technica's and I prefer the Senheisser's over them.
