Default *Official Hyundai Accent LC (2nd Gen.) Thread*

I have created this thread by request from a fellow RCUniverse visitor...Lee172. Dedicated to Hyundai Accents from the year 2000-2005. I drive a 2nd gen, so I feel it is only fair to keep it between those years. Anyone else care to join this marvelous milestone with me about the glorious 2nd generation Hyundai line? Thanks for the suggestion Lee!

2001 Hyundai Accent GS Hatchback

Engine: 1.6L 16v DOHC 4-cylinder
Transmission: 4-speed auto
Weight: 2280lbs
Wheelbase: 96.1"
Horsepower: 105 @ 5800rpm
0-60: Roughly 10.5 seconds

These are specs for my car. I also have Bosch Platinum plugs and a K&N air filter, so I might be pushing 110-115hp.I could not find torque specs.

Better plusgs and filter are proven to increase power. I could have made a bogus claim of a 20-30hp increase, but I was being conservative. It might not even be a 5hp gain. If not big deal. Atleast I'm not saying my B16 civic is rocking 240bhp with intake, headers, exhaust. You love the word ricer dont you hedgehog? Can you explain to me your definition of ricer?

Ha, no. Plugs don't work that way. Just because a filter says K&N, does not mean it will add power, especially if it's a stock OEM replacement. If it's a 'CAI', you probably lost power after removing the resonator box. I'd wager you didn't make single gain.

It is a pretty light car. For what it is, it is pretty zippy. Not saying it's a fast as hell car, but it definitely goes when you hit the gas. It even has pretty good get up and go on the highway. Hope that doesn't make me sound like a ricer

I'd be interested to know the 1/4 mile time.. some people live life a 1/4 at a time..

0-100 would be interesting also..

The engineers at Hyundai wanted to know the 0-100 time as well... 13 years later they still don't know! LOL!

This is according to Wiki..

1.5 L 12-valve SOHC Alpha I4, 92 hp (69 kW) @5500 rpmand 97 lb·ft (132 Nm) @2900 rpm**0–100 km/h: 12.0 sec., top speed: 181 km/h (112 mph)

So it looks like the less powerful engine is enough to get up to 112mph... so maybe the 105hps version will go a little bit more..

I can honestly say low end throttle response improved after the K&N and plugs. I just put in the drop in K&N filter. If I didn't gain any HP, that's ok. I noticed something, including a slight increase in MPG

I have had mine up to 110mph racing my buddies Ram 1500 HEMI on the highway. I was still gaining speed after shifting out of overdrive. I stopped cause my car needed a balance and alignment, so it was shaking pretty bad lol.

Why not? The fear of being called an idiot from Hedgehog does not bother me. I'm not the only one in the world who has spent time seeing what their car can do and is capable of.

lol You should put a supercharger on it, and then try racing your friend's Hemi.  By the way, who won the highway battle?
