Default High end portable speaker system

Hey guys, I'm looking for a high end portable speaker system like a sound dock or something. It doesn't have to be battery operable, but I want it in one unit. I'm looking at stuff like the Bose soundlink II and the Beats By Dre Beatbox. Nothing more than $400. A dock isn't required. Any ideas?

Kicker makes some nice sound docks for a decent price. They are great quality, and good sound. http://www.kicker.com/speaker_docks
The iKick501 has a 6" subwoofer in the rear, which is the only sound dock that I know of that has one.

The jamboxes are nice, but very pricey for the size of the system you get. But they sound like you wouldn't think a little box would sound like.

Yes but I prefer to call it "over-engineering".
Sounds more professional that way.

I'd get some aftermarket car stereos and make my own.

Hmm, I'm leaning towards the Beatbox at the moment.
