DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!
I received this in a email.
i think its a good idea.
DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!
In April of 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15, 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station and pump gas in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take $2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies' pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.
If you agree (which I can't see why you wouldn't) resend this to your entire contact list. With it saying, ''Don't pump gas on May 15th".
I'LL BE PARTICIPATING AND HOPE ALL OF YOU SEE THE IMPORTANCE AND DO THE SAME. PUT A REMINDER ON YOUR CALENDAR!
***
The more participants, the better the outcome; I am sure we will not see every human on the internet do this, but those who read this will most likely try their best to jump in.

Just a word of warning! I had my own gas thread deleted because it was deemed political.
So long as we keep this trhead focused on economy and not mention countries and their international policies as well as govenrment related regulations and legislation, we can keep this thread totally political free and threrefore prevent it from being deleted for discussing politics.

nitro fuel is mostly methanol, which is alcohol, not fossil fuel, caster oil comes from the caster plant so not fossil fuel either, i'm not sure about nitromethane but i dont think thats fossil fuel either, if anything only synthetic oil in nitro fuel is made from fossil fuel
by the way i don't, see why you'd get huffy over $3 a gallon, a gallon is 4.5 liters and we pay $1.20-$140ish a liter for fuel here, even with inflation it's still no way near as much as we pay, then you gotta factor in inflation itself, people are getting payed more for working, governments are making more money, and the price of everythings going up, in short the value of a dollar is decreasing all the time

Umm...then wouldn't people just gas up on 14 May 2007? I know two of the vehicles in my household are going to have to gas up at least once in the next two weeks, and the third will have to gas up at least twice.

RE: DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!
Well, my car stopped running about 3 weeks ago, so I won't be anywhere near a gas station LOL!
I wonder: since nitro fuel seems more friendly to the environment than gas, why don't full size cars run on it? [sm=confused.gif]
EDIT:[sm=idea.gif] ... never mind, I just remembered that it's way more expensive than pump gas, and that alcohol burns with an invisible flame.[X(] ...not good.

There should be a monthly boycott. Like the 15th..........This could do some good. Hell halmark would love it......they would make cards for it. It would definatley turn some heads. Only issue is, everyone needs gas......lol.

RE: DON'T PUMP GAS ON MAY 15TH!!
scracing, exactly... you can take one day a week where nobody fills gas, and guess wut... that jest means that many more ppl will fill on a different day...... its the theory of "supply and demand" except here, the demand never changes... your tank holds 20 gallons of fuel, that 20 gallons will get you 200 miles, its twenty miles round trip to work, you fill on sunday before work, you work 2 weeks, and need to fill again... so the bottom line is, you buy fuel every 2 weeks to get to and from work, now on the other hand of this story, your neighbor has the same car and works 20 miles the other direction, only he fills on friday after work, so they sell 20 gallons to "bob" on friday, and 20 to you on sunday... now you both decided, lets not fill on friday or sunday, and have them loose that 20 gallons per day, rather we will fill on tuesday, so what they lost on friday and sunday, they just made up for it on tuesday... make sense?
if you really want to cause a fuel problem, burn ethanol for the next year, if everyone does so the companies that provide fossil fuels will be hurting and will have to lower prices to get people to purchase "their gas"... though this is by no means a full proof way of doing it either...
we all just need to face the facts, money runs our lives if we like it or not, and we are going to have to find some other means of getting around soon enough...

Yep, the only way to really hurt the big gas companies is to drive less. This however puts more money into auto insurance CEOs since insuracne companies pay out less on claims since less accidents occur because of the reduced drivers on the road (that is, if a significant number of people do not drive as part of the boycott).
