RE: THE LOUNGE 2
I went with XP. Yeah it's old, but I didn't feel like dealing with compatibility issues for stuff like printers, older PC games, etc, and who knows what else. Vista, although pretty, just isn't shaping up to what I want. My wife runs XP, so it's just easier for us to have the same OS, for me.
But hey, I was running Windows 2000, so this is a step up! LOL

For all I know, it's an exaggeration. But I didn't feel like chancing it. Our printer is decent, but more than a few years old. So are the PC games I play. I overheard some techie co-workers talking about how it's almost the next Windows ME...if anyone remembers ME, they know what I mean. Heck, I don't even think Microsoft acknowledges that ME ever existed. Hehehehe.
I just had a strong "stay away" vibe, so I did.

Hmm.. compatibility issue, eh?! That sucks.. they need to continue to support the old stuff.. [:'(]

My sister just ordered a Dell via Costco.. it will come w/ Vista Home, I think..
Good thing that she only use it for e-mail / web surfing / etc. She should be okay, ha!!

I use Vista. All the drivers are up for printers, monitors etc. I don't play computer games asside from the Sims 2 every once in awhile and that works fine.
Works great for me, and crashes 300% less than windows XP.
Service pack 1 just came out for Vista and seeing as how microsoft is dropping support (or already has?) for XP I figured I should step up.
No joke I have had 2 crashes in owning my laptop using daily for video editing photo editing and the occasional game, so 300% may be an exaggeration.

I've actually had great luck with XP and my wife's laptop, so crashes aren't a concern. Actually, I haven't really had crashing issues for quite a long time (Win 98?). As for the lack of support for XP, I'm not worried. I ran Win2k for 7+ years. Talk about no support! LOL
I guess it all depends on what you're running/doing. I always laugh at the Mac commercials and fans who claim that Windows crashes all the time, like on a daily basis. I just don't have that experience, and I've built my own PCs for 12 years. Maybe I'm doing something right (Win98 aside....hehe).

I used to run linux, man I loved those days.
Oh and E-man I was in no way criticising your choice to stick with XP, I was just justifying my usage of it.

No worries. I'm as much justifying my decision to stick with an old no-longer-supported OS. It was a hard choice.... most likely me being cheap led me to use the copy of XP I already have rather than paying for Vista.

I remember WinME [:@]
It was actually a good operating system until you applied all the MS updates
