It sure is putting a hurting on my end of the hobby, I'm an auto technician in the Detroit area, so we rely on people to keep thier cars up and running , but with the price of fuel, nobody wants to spend hardly anything on thier cars, they lease them and when it needs something major, they turn it in and get a new lease, so it really hurts us, even the dealerships, thier not even busy!! Fortunatly we've been pretty busy at the shop the last two weeks, hopefully this will last so I can get the bills caught up and do some racing, bills and providing for the family come first. I guess money wise I'm not doing too bad, but nothing like it was about 7-8 years ago it was nice to have a couple hunred dollars in your pocket every week, thats few and far between now[&o], oh well what can you do besides deal with it and make the best of things.

I hear the price of Nitro is thru the roof, something about China not shipping and something having to do with the olympics? Even impacting NHRA drags.....

Not even close but there is a lot more attached to your fuel prices than ours, Where your at, the tax that is set aside for the roads actually go towards the roads...............here its just extra money for congress to spend.............other than that the fuel prices are just what the fuel companies feel like charging for it. See over here where we once had a socialism its turned into a multi national Marcsism. The rich rule............all we need to do is become rich [:-]

If we all buy a Prius, nobody in my state will be working, let alone racing.

Here in West Central Wisconsin we are getting the brunt end of all of it. The weather has not cooperated. With everything costing more we have guys showing up less cause of costs. I gave up going to a race this weekend cause I need to get to work and that has to come first. For me any track I go to is at least an hour away so it tends to get expensive. I drive an hour and a half one way to work everyday so Yes gas prices as well as rising cost of everything is effecting my racing this year.

Europeans pay less for (actual) gas than Americans. Americans aren't taxed nearly as much on gas. But, we (Americans) pay more for the actual gasoline.

I think twice now before I get into my truck and go 50 miles to the nearest race track. It hasn't stopped me yet, but I still think twice about it.

Thats the part that hurts us the most. We are so used to getting in the car and driving 50 to 500 miles (or further) any time we want to. Hard to do that on $4 gas.

Then you know why my racing has been dampered a bit. My home track is Reedsburg..... :-) We can not catch a break when it comes to the weather. That last one really washed out the track and gave us alot of work to do again. We had just got it race worthy and have not been able to run a race yet this year..... :-(

You'll be suprised at how much the largescale petrol models have ripped into the 1/8th nitro market.A lot of people are changing to petrol models, myself included as its cheaper running costs and after the initial layout just as cheap to maintain.I think we're all feeling the econy pinch that the US is suffering and the knock on effect has hit us Brits too...

Lets look forward to better days guys and happier times and before we know it the economy will get back to strength, albeit not without casualties along the way. It's swings and roundabouts and all countries such as the US and UK suffer these declines and inflation rises. The war in Iraq hasn't helped and is the main cause of the troubles you guys in the US are seeing. Its sickens when one man can cause such turmoil for so many and still have supporters to his policies.Mr G W Bush has a lot to answer for in his remaining lifetime and although he's admitted and regrets his decision,I somehow doubt he'll lose any sleep over it...

It is a problem. We deal and move on. I can find a way to point a lot of fingers, but that does not make things better. Solve the problem; do not dwell on who is at fault. This looks like an opportunity for a little ingenuity.
