Default Good Old American Muscle

Check out these videos I found on Youtube. Tell me, which one would you rather drive? I think we already know the answer.

1969 Camaro: [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3Yju1_WD9Q&feature=related]//www.youtube.com/watch?v=[/link]

Honda Civic: [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IfGXqDiBNk]//www.youtube.com/watch?v=[/link]

I can tell you I would rather have the 1969 Camaro. Their just one good muscle car, and one of the best looking Camaro's made.

Ha, it's always funny when people try to make engine sounds. I'll take the V8 too.

The only imports I really like are the multi-cylinder exotics. For example, teh V12s, V16s, and W18s. Now, seeing a W18 1000HP car, that is something else!

But as for te4-cylinder glorified go-carts? Nothing short of laughable as compared to teh growl of American V8 muscle. Even the ticked out 4s sound nothing more like farts as compared to a cammed out V8 engine!

Here is the W configured engine I'm talking about. I cannot find a better pic, otherwise I would have posted those. But here is another link describing teh W-configuration.

I dont necessarily like them either, but for 8L (just under 500ci), their W16 DOHC supercharged engine makes the 1K HP, and at a rather decent 6000 RPM too! That must mean it retains alot of its 750ft-lbf torque at that RPM to get such a high HP.

Even Chevy's 502 does not make 1L HP without some tricks done to it. Though I would love to see some innovative tricks done to that 502: Forced induction (of course), 4 valves per cylinder, DOHC, variable timing (both in duration & lift, and even valve overlap) to eliminate the idle "LOP! LOP! LOP! LOP! LOP!"direct injection, and so forth. I bet such a 502 (8.2L) would spank Bugatti's 488ci (8L).

Too bad I sold the 502 that was in my truck. I would have modded it to the same specs as the Bugatti's and then see how it performs.

Actually, I bet you 1K HP 502 would have made significantly more torque than Bugatti's 1K HP W16. The thing that American muscle has going for it is longer stoke and thus more torque (though at a sacrifice of engine top RPM).

Yea I was thinking about ways I could modify stroke at higher RPM's but I'm not sure how I would go about that. It's something to think about because if it is possible not only could our engines pump out gobs of torque but rev high and make tons of HP too. Which would make all those exotic companies jealous.

I don't know too much about racing on a track like that but he only made one big mistake through out the vid. In reality I don't think you get to drive that car if your just a rookie.

I wish the sound quality was a little better to. It just drowns out at high rpm.

Mmm american muscle. I love my little toy. Needs more power though.

2001 Mustang GT - Vortech S/C 8psi, built auto, 3500 stall, 4.10 gears, bassani cat back. Unfortunatly I dont have any sound clips though and I cant get any as its currently hibernating for the winter.
