The context first - What you are seeing is the top 1/6 of an approximately 100 foot tall tree. And within it, a small ball of fur. Personally, I didn't know they went that high. The wind was moving the tree all over the place, a fall would have meant certain death.

Here is another squirrel that looks like it would be scared of heights, but definitely is not (they thrive on it I think)

A flying squirrel. We have a few flying squirrels around here come summer time. They always impress the snot out of me. They leap from the tops of there huge maples and soar for what seems like forever until they hit their target which is usually another tree or the ground.

Ya we have flying squirrels up here. I have only seen them twice and I have lived up here for 5 years now. There pretty nuts
They will go from the tops of the pine trees to about the middle.

Thats nothing, those guys go out on super small branches.... they are shure good climbers
. I get nervous on an 8' ladder..... having good claws helps alot with climbing trees, we get the regular 'fox' or bright orange belly guys all the time here. Shure know what they are doing..... [8D]
