Have played guitar and played and sang in bands for 15 years now. Due to my timing I was most interested in music during the 'grunge' era. Hence rock, metal and alt. rock have always been my mainstays. As I age, I find myself attrcated to anything that has real heart and soul....this could be from from any genre....a good song both lyrically and musically is awesome. Whether being from Canada gives me a bias or not...I have found myself liking many Canadian rock bands over the years. Big Sugar, Big Wreck, Matthew Good Band etc. I think because they were always different that everything else that was popular at the time.
One thing I have learned is that as a genre gets more popular it tends to get more watered down and to me that is evident in country right now and getting there in rock....
I also find it hard to truly find an entire 'album' anymore that is good or great.
Rock bands that have really interested me the last few years....
Alexisonfire (Canadian)
Billy Talent (Canadian)
Otherwise it is just a mix of whatever is out there.....it is becoming a 'single' society and albums are slowly becoming redundant.

I need to step in here and put out a reminder about RCU's rules. Our rules concerning inappropriate language extent to any materials that are linked to. So what does that mean? It means that if the songs or sites you link to have language that is not allowed on RCU then it's going to get removed. RCU is a family friendly site and we do not allow in appropriate language as it is not suited for children, and many parents do not want to have their kids exposed to that. We maintain RCU so that parents can allow their kids to view our site without worrying about them being exposed to such language. I ask that all those here respect the rules of RCU and do not post links to materials such as this.
Thanks for your cooperation in this matter

I don't listen to much hip-hop as I used to (Talib, Jigga, Nas..)

Grateful dead is my #1 choice in music. I also like Rush, some metallica, early green day, outlaws, elton john, coldplay, some hendrix, and much more. But Grateful dead is Grate.
