Default Rhys Millen's Pikes Peak Run

Have you guys seen the video yet? Very reminiscent of Ari Vatanen in Climb Dance almost 20 years ago. Breathtaking to say the least. If that isnt car control, I dont know what is.

Here's Rhys:

I love Ari Vatanen's video. Wow, you can really hear that turbo in Rhys' videos.

That 405 does sound a hell of a lot better. The aerial shot that starts at 2:53 is probably my favorite thing, like ever. Other than girls, that shot ranks 2nd in feo's favorite things evar.

if you can ever get there in real life its well worth the trip, I need to get back to see Rhys win one as I have allready seen Rod Millen win one back in 1994 which at the time was the fastest trip up the hill ever and will remain as the fastest ever dirt ascent as portions have been paved since then making the new records need an asterick LOL.

These guys are great, but Sebastian Loeb (sp?)... Go search youtube for 'loeb in car', and prepare to be shocked.

Of all the disciplines (GT, F1, Indy, anything), rally requires the most natural talent and the best control. Therefore the WRC champion is technically the finest driver in the world. Loeb is not only the champion, he's won the WRC more than anyone else in history and won more stages in his career than anyone else, and he's not even close to quitting yet. Anyway, he won the race of champions, so not only is he technically the best, he's also officially the best!

I have done it a couple times, its pretty hard on your brakes on the way down unless you got a manual transmission. They warn you how cold it is up top because you can loose 30 degrees or so just going up there, shorts at the base and jackets at the summit. Last time we went in June it was sunny and hot but in the shade on the side of the mountain there was still snow at elevation.

I think the 2.0T in the Hyundai coupe is sourced from Mitsubishi.. a de-tuned version of the Lancer Evo engine.. so I am sure there's quite a bit of aftermarket support there...

Also, since it is a race car, I think all bets are off.. I am sure the changes are quite extensive.. !!

Nope! Just looked up the info on Millen's Genesis coupe.

"The Hyundai Lambda 3.8-liter V6 engine, which comes standard on the Genesis Coupe 3.8, will be stroked to 4.1-liters and further enhanced by a Turbonetics turbocharger. An AEM engine management system will also be used. The engine will be mated to a HKS sequential transmission. The end result is a Genesis Coupe that will produce 550 horsepower and 520 lb.-ft. of torque."

Hyundai is going places...

Interesting, so it is not using the 2.0L turbo from the 2.0T Genesis?! Ha..

So it is even further away from the Hyundai that you can buy then..... [&:]

Right, but what I meant is that if you take the 2.0T version of the engine, and tune it up using commonly available hop-up parts.. then it is something that regular folks might be able to duplicate..

vs. building something that's significantly different than stock...

That's all I am saying..

Ooooh, I hear ya. Yeah, I agree. Wanna hear what else they did to it that will further prove your point?

"...stripped a Genesis Coupe to bare metal and the chassis has spent five days in an Alkali bath removing all rubber and adhesives. The chassis has also been stitch welded for added structural rigidity."

Yeah, extra weld stiffs up the chassis by a lot...

Missed out the most important part. The new Genesis is RWD!!!!

On the Honda forums, a lot of people are talking about picking these (the Genesis) up now that Honda is not offering any sports cars. Hyundai is indeed going places it seems.
