Default Some pictures from the water

Went out sailing on my 25' boat yesterday, made it back in one piece and had fun. Here are some pictures, especially cool are the ones of the new San Fransisco Bay Bridge being built, you can see the old one (still in use) and the new one being built in some shots.

The 2 concrete causeways are part of the new bridge, the 2 deck truss frame is part of the old one. The suspension bridge is the western span and isn't being replaced.

Great pics.
Except that last one [:'(]
I'm not too good on the water - prefer to be on solid ground or in a big boat.

A while back my girlfriend and I went on a fishing trip on a decent sized boat.
It was calm as anything but I still got seasick and went up on top deck and fell asleep in the sun and got seriously sunburnt.

My girlfriend had a great time though.
Out of all the people (mostly guys) fishing, she caught the first, largest and most fish out of all of them.

Nope that large white thing is actually the screen for his on-board movie projector. He likes to watch Finding Nemo as he rows around the bay.

Yeah it's a real 25' sailboat. It has an 8hp outboard for motoring around the marina and stuff though.

Great pics, Sheo. That looks really nice out there even when you're heeled over.

What is that, like 25 degrees over or something? I went up the Delta on a friend's 24-footer and we ended up a bit sideways just past the Benicia bridge.

Yeah that was probably around 25-30 degrees. It was an exceptionally nice day, the fog creeped in a bit but went back out after it got to Alcatraz. I'm thinking of selling this boat and getting something a bit larger that I can take more people out on.

A guy I know in the marina has a really gorgeous 48' Sloop for sale, he wants 80k for it. It's pricey but it's a really beautiful boat with all the nicest trimmings.

It was really fun to see the nuances of the construction on the new bridge, I'm quite interested by large engineering projects like this.

Cruising around the bay with a GPS is fine but, entering blue water without knowing how to work a sextant could be suicide. Being in the middle of the pacific with an in-operational GPS, is not cool.

Keep sailing, Jib Ho.

Sheogarth,

Take a long look around San Diego area mate. There are some really NICE sailing boats here going for next to nothing. Some may need a slight bit of work, but WELL worth it. A good investment if you're going to keep it for a while (like till the economy bounces back). Looks like that was some georgeous sailing weather that day.

It was seriously blowing in San Diego today. Don't see the bay with 8 foot wite caps too often...[X(]

Yeah there are a lot of really great boats for sale all over the country, it's been that way ever since the economy went south. Lots of people unloading luxury goods.

They are cheap, I bought my 3rd sailboat 4 months ago inKemah, Tx.A Trintella 44 ft for 250k, had to do some arm twisting to get to that price though.
