Well, this is my mother's old 4 door 57 Chevy Bel Air. Positively needs some TLC....[&:]

So on my last trip back home, we took it to our good friends at Spirit Racing in SoCal. They found us another "doner" car for a steal. Perfectly straight frame and basically double of everything to be able to choose the best of [8D]

Although it's hard to imagine or see what the finished product will be, the process begins to take shape. Body, Panels, doors and lids primed, sanded and ready for paint.

Default RE: Project Pics

Starting to get a nice image in my mind. The latest pics with some paint finally. Original white over 'teal' color scheme. I know that's not what the original colors were called by Chevy, but I like to keep it simple. All the chrome has been sent for re-chroming and I'm waiting for the next set of pics.

It will eventually have disc brakes all around, some extra leaf springs to tow a classic and restored air stream, new tires, engine, under dash A/C, exhaust, wiring, etc, and a hidden under bumper hitch.

I'll post more pics up when they get sent to me. My mother wants this car to be my son's first when he turns 18. If that's not a goal to work towards, I don't know what is....

On a side note, if YOU had a choice, what engine would you stick in there???

Thanks DVP, yah me too, especially ones with stories and history behind them (that you are aware of, LOL)

I just really wish I could be there helping to get it back into shape, but family and commitments on this side of the planet just don't allow for that.

So Cal....Absolutely for anyone who wants to post pics of their resorations/overhaulings. I'd love to see anyone's projects.

And the question still stands, if it were your choice, what engine would you shove into the 57 Chevy Bel Air?

Well if you had the choice to put any motor in it... A 572 chevy crate motor would be in order LOL

Looks fun! Currently working on a '74 MG Midget 1275 with my dad. Were not doing anything right now because it's been below freezing for the past couple days and were waiting on some more suspension parts. I don't have any pics right now, but I'll try and gome some soon when it's not too cold. I had a thread about it, but it's kinda died. You can search for it if you want.

As for the engine, if it's for you son, do you really want a huge V8 in a 50-something year old car?

ThunderbirdJunkie would install a stock Vortec 6.0L truck engine with a 4L80E for excessive reliability and more than enough power to haul that old barge around.

This weekend, ThunderbirdJunkie will start stripping his '79 Suzuki GS550E

LOL at the 572 Chevy crate motor....The Blue Book value on the car alone is only about 15K. It's the 57 Chevy 2 doors that go for alot more.

Tommygun32 remembers his first motorcycle. A 1982 Suzuki GS 450E that he stripped down and cleaned many times. A bit big for a '1st' bike, but it was fun to ride.

SoCal, where are all those pics you were talking about man?
