ThunderbirdJunkie has no use for any 4x4 he can not use for daily chores, and all he sees in SK's post is a couple of stupid poser shots.

Those wusses need to take their junk off road.

When I was younger my dad had a 1976 F250 Ford with a 390 big block, Black with white rims loved the looks of that truck.

So, the orange one's completely useless because you can't drive it to the trail

The white one's not bad, but it's obviously not daily drivable in any sense of the term.

ThunderbirdJunkie would much prefer something with a closed cab, four doors, and...uh...COMFORTABLE if we're gonna talk 4x4s If it can't be DD'd, either from a drivability or reliability or comfort standpoint, it is a useless vehicle ITBJHO.

TOYOTA
BROKEN
Everything seems to be in order

ThunderbirdJunkie will just be over here with no broken birfield joints or problematic Aisin hubs or cheap copies of the GM 250 I6

In all seriousness, though, whattya running for tires on that? 8.50-16s? 34x950s? Stock 6" wheels? Details?

Yeah... and a liberty is that much better? HA! That picture is showing wheel spin after some idiot gets the thing stuck in 3 feet of mud. My dad had a liberty with a 2" lift, the wheel bearings would blow out every time he dragged it through 4" of water. Yes... the FJ is willies copy, but its still fun none the less... the transmission and clutch are all stock and still work together like dirty movies and Vaseline.

The FJ is all stock except a skyjacker 2" shackle lift and tires, which are just 34 swampers on the stock wheels. Oh yeah, I uploaded the wrong pic, the last one is actually installing the lift... you can see that the front is done already, and parts are strewn all over my yard, haha.

Upon rereading your post it seems you took the Jeep/Yota ribbing and ran with it. Sorry

Also, going through that little puddle not a single tire was spun. It pays to be locked

And "wheel bearings would blow out every time he dragged it through 4" of water"?

166,000 miles and have only had to replace the front wheel hub assemblies once each. Pretty par for the course for Chrysler products that don't go off road

I understand completely but, on the other hand...
It would be hard to find and take a stock 5.9 to that point for much less than 19k.
Still, that Jeep/ad has other issues. For example, it appears that research shows the Jeep has closer to 50k miles rather than the 10k claimed.

I've got a '98 5.2 Limited 2wd and I've had it places that I never expected to get out of (abandoned South Georgia logging roads) and it never even thought about getting stuck. It has 250k miles, drives, rides and runs great, pulls my 5k lb boat and, even at 12 y/o, is still more luxurous inside than many much newer "luxury" brands.

well if i was going to build a non street legal trail rig i would build something like this

if i had to keep it street legal (which knowing me i probably would) i would go with a bronco

of course im more a racer type.  so if i did build an off road vehicle it would most likely be a pre runner or baja bug or something along those lines

i like wranglers despite of the stereotypes, i just like thier no nonsense form and function.
liberties arent bad, its like the spawn of a wrangler and Cherokee.

point is if you want modern off road cars, (not just suv's) mopar is almost always on top, not some cushy car sitting on big tires.

pretty much anything with the blue oval. i really want an early-mid 90's f150 powerstroke and a bronco. i wouldnt mind havin' a late model f350 triton v10 though. i like the racers and mudders more than the crawlers.

Subaru BRAT!!!

(Remember too, that these trucks are tiny, about the size of a Ford Escort in case you've never seen a BRAT in person.

Also, Ronald Reagan drove one: [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

(The restored Reagan Presidential BRAT.)

No the dually axle came from a big dually truck it was heavy duty and would go through almost anything in 2wd I hardly used 4wd.
