What brand of Vacuum cleaner do you own?

I run a Vacuum store and am just curious where the floor care market is headed. Select the brand that you primarily use in your house.
I have most of the biggies covered.
If you don't see it pick other and post.
Thanks.

I know, but this is so random, of ALL things I would expect to see in the O/T forum, I NEVER would think this would come up lol. I voted Hoover, shoulda got a Dyson.

Actually Cadillac, I'm going to remain unbiased at this point, but believe me when I tell you, you're good with the Hoover...unless you got the bagless one with the folding handle.[:-]

Its the bagless self propelling one, for some reason we havnt had much luck with it. Are the Dyson's junk, ive heard they were great.

RE: What brand of Vacuum cleaner do you own?

Dyson makes a great product, but they're customer service is $@%#. Getting parts is like pulling teeth. Those S/P Hoovers are pretty good. Gotta be nice to the height adjuster though. You slam that baby too low on carpet and you will send that rear belt to lala land.

Nah, be nice to the FQ, they are akward to use by today's standards, but are made VERY well, economical, and should have decent suction *IF* it is working properly and not clogged. Have you checked the pre-motor and exhaust filter lately? :)

What's a vacuum cleaner? Nah, I own a Hoover. It really sucks. ;)

I look at it this way -- no matter what vaccuum you own, it will suck somehow! :)

But don't some suck better than others? ;)

I have the Euro-Pro Shark Cordless Sweeper, it's the only thing that will pick up my guinea pig's hay and gravel all over our house. It's cordless, so there's no hassle of plugging it in. :D

Why isn't Dyson on the list?! I (my folks) have one of those, it rules.

It has this funky internal cyclone/hurricaine thing going on which removes anything off the floor - pets, money, small rc parts....

...and my gran had this self propelled one, you give it a push and it drives off in whatever direction, turn your back and it's off down the street!

Hay and gravel? Reminds me of something I've heard before, "Were you born in a barn? Close the door!"

Electrolux. Never heard of it until it showed up at our house a couple weeks ago.

Actually Tigger, I'm in a house, not a barn. THe thing is my guinea pig likes to make a mess of everything and runs around his cage getting gravel on our floors and then his Timothy Hay that he eats is a whole other story. The Shark is the only vaccum that seems to pick them up good while still being affordable. :)

My brother is into airsoft guns and he always shoots targets in his room. We have a shark and use it to pick up all the little BB's out of the carpet. Works great! We also have a Eureka and a central vac system, i don't know what the brand is though.

I've got a new Kenmore bagless and a Craftsman Shop Vac. For safety incentive at work, they give out Sears gift cards, the only reason why I have them from Sears.
In my younger days, I tried being a vacuum cleaner salesman, another thing that I don't do well. I can't think of the name of it right now but it was the one that used water in the glass tank at the base. My wife tried to sell Kirby's at one time, all we got was a free carpet shampooing out of it.

RE: What brand of Vacuum cleaner do you own?

The one you put water in would be a Rainbow brand. $1K+ for a glorified shop vac. When I get a call asking me if I repair Rainbow machines, my response is always "Gladly".

yeah my mom has this ancient carpet cleaning thing. It has tubes filled with water going to the sucking part and it makes the carpet all wet and clean. It looks really weird...

Ron Olson 03-24-2006 07:27 PM

RE: What brand of Vacuum cleaner do you own?

Yeah, that's it! My parents had one and it lasted them a good 20 years. If it's sold by someone that comes to your house you can bet that it's way overpriced! Kirby's used to cost $35.00 to make yet sold for over a Grand. I heard that they're up over 2 Grand now. I learned how to argue with these people also.
I always wanted to try something for these salespeople. Welcome to come over and show you what they are trying to sell you but just before the phone salesperson hangs up, tell them that you charge $XXX.XX to let them use your home as a place of business, after all that's what they are doing!

Hoover, always has been, always will be. We have the canister bagless, and it's the best vacuum i've ever used. I clean houses part-time, and I've used a few in my day. This one has 3 different power levels, and i usually only have to use the first one - once i sucked up a sock on this setting, and it didn't protest one bit, just went "schlooooop", and that was it. Best part was, i didn't have to tear a bag apart to get it back. The only thing i don't like is that the power head doesn't have a height adjustment, so you have to go easy on it until it warms up

I have this ancient one that looks like a rocket ship. It has to be at least 30-40 years old. It is a stainless steel egg-like shape, and It runs great. We should figure out how to make a gas powered vacuum cleaner.
