RE: Ball Python

I'm a news paper kind of guy very easy to clean. Not the best to look at but easy. When I got my jungles they had mites and once you get them it is very very hard to kill them. they spread to two other snakes now jungles that are young DON'T LIKE PEOPLE and I got bit alot.

RE: Ball Python

Comerford, i've never seen a nice carpet python. lol. Seriously, when i worked for the science foundation, those thing would bite, and strike at me all the time. The jungle carpets are pretty, just not my type i guess. Use some provent-a-mite for that mite problem.

RE: Ball Python

did all that. when I was at the Philadelphia zoo the guy at the reptile house hooked me up with some stuff to treat the snakes and used prvent a mite for the cages. that was like two years ago but what a pain. I can hold my jungles now with no problems they are tame now. I have a king snake with a personalty problem and a crazy never know when she will strike boa. As my wife would say she has got some issues.

thanks for the comments. haha, i couldnt tell you off the top of my head what kind it is. the only thing ik is thats what they told me to get and i love the way it looks.

This is cool people like reptiles on this site to. I have a few 2 jungle carpet pythons, 2 red tail boa's, two very red corn snakes, 1 ball the male died, 1 gray band king, 2 king's I did have some awsome bearded dragon's but my female boa got out and eat them . broke the cage and eat them both the female was full of eggs. I have my large female in a vision cage and she got the glass open. I'll dig and get some photos. I also had leopard's but sold them as the dragon's were a lot of work. The first year breeding her I got 3 good clutchs 1st was 18 second 14 3rd 18 hatched only a few from the first but all from the others and sold them. I'm going to go a little more deep into reptiles and hope to get some high end stuff soon. The best reptile site is kingsnake.com check it out.

wow. you have one amazing collection there. lol. id love to see some of your snakes so find them pics.

I don't really care for them, they can't be raced! And what do you do with them really? Look?
I guess if you have to ask then you just don't get it. It's like asking a cat owner why they like cats, or asking a dog owner why they got one. Either you get it or you don't.

EDIT: BTW I used to own a few ribbon snakes as a kid. I always wanted something like a python or boa but my parents couldn't afford it. When I finally got old enough to afford one I wasn't into it any more.

RE: Ball Python

oooo man thermal. that is my favorite style of any snake: albino. i just love the color. i wish i could have gotten an albino but no one around me had them. :(.

quick question for those with ball pythons. how big will a male get fed properly?? ive heard sooo many different lengths that i dont know who to believe, others than those who have them. mine is just under 3ft and he is a little older than 2 yrs of age.

RE: Ball Python

Depends on what size cage. Correct me if i am wrong bit wont they anly get as big as thair cage..

ThermalRD 09-24-2007 09:24 PM

RE: Ball Python

Nope spotted pythons arent really rare. They are an affordable snake though. I see them at the reptile shows, but they dont interest me. I like all snakes, just dont find those attractive enough to own one. Thanks Pyro, glad ya like my albino. Im actually relatively obsessed with albinos. In fact, my collection is currently ALL albino right now. LOL. Ball pythons are not huge snakes. They are short, stocky snakes. I've seen ONE in in a photo, that was about a 5-6ft MONSTER. The snake had to have been very old, and the pic looked old as well. This is just a random pic from the net, but dont expect your male ball python to get much larger than this. If any larger at all. They are a small breed, that give birth to a small number of eggs. Which is what keeps the fancy ball morphs in high demand, and cost. And socal, the cage size does not determine the snakes size. Thats a myth. Im sure it CAN stunt the growth to a small degree, however the snake growth is determined primarily by feeding... Personally, i love large snakes. If my wife would allow me, i'd have anacondas and retics again... I WILL have a burmese again when i find the one i want...

Primarily just the local event, thats monthly. There are a few local, but i only go to the one near me. Years ago i used to go to the Colombus show as well. That one is pretty big.

RE: Ball Python

I like to go to as many shows as I can. My wife takes the cridit cards from me before I go that's the deal I made with her. I don't think I would ever go bigger then the Boa. I would like to get back to bearded dragons and geckos. I also like spiders I have the mexican red knee. I hope to get some Het for albino balls (i go the cheap way) and het for snow boas. Also like the pie ball.

Get a guinea pig, they are so much fun, you can play with a guinea pig, you can't with a ball python, guinea pigs are not meat eaters, ball pythons are, ball pythons can kill you, which would mean bybye socalnitrobasher, guinea pigs can't kill you... IMPO guinea pigs are better:D

you just don't like snakes, you should show a little back bone;). rodent's killed more people then snakes and snakes keep rodents in check when left alone. mosquitos killed more people I think to date. But people think it was pigs or chickens that caused the 1918 pendemic.

you offended my sisters guinea pig, #1. they are not rodents, they are loveable creatures
#2. I have not gotten sick because of one (unlike rats...)
#3. They don't eat mice... and no, I am not a vegiterian, I love my tri tip[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

A guy I work with is from Cambodia and would eat my snakes and your guinea pig and told me so. I told him I bought a rabbit and thought it was for me to eat I was like it's for my snake and then he said you eat snakes? THEY ARE GOOD.
