Well - There goes my chair

About 5 minutes ago, my chair collapsed completely. I was sitting there minding my own business doing some online banking, and the next thing I knew I was on the floor. Looks like the chair part sheared itself off of the top of the hydraulic assembly, quite strange.

Here you can see the upper part, and the lever that would engage the piston.

Looks like I will be furniture shopping tomorrow.

LOL, I'm scared that my chair is going to collapse now[sm=confused_smile.gif].
Its probably at least 8 years old, so I honestly wouldnt be too surprised.

Dont go to Wally-World, they will only sell you another chair that is just as inferior.

From the looks of the shorn & tenstioned metal, the steel used is inferior (either that or your bottom is too fat! J/K)

How very random. I hope you are ok.

I wish my work chair would break. It drops a quarter inch every 5 minutes or so by itself [:@]

Been there, done that. Hit my head pretty good on the edge of a desk - it happened at work a few years ago. If it never happens to me again, I'll be fine with that:D:D

Glad you're ok

There is no way you can be that big, give yourself more credit.

I guy I used to work with was a verey very large man, 350 lbf +. He was so big that my job had to custom order a special chare with hardened piston and reenforced center shaft. Well, he kept getting bigger, maybe more than 400 lbf. Once day, the chair, whioch was designed for 300 lbf, finally cried its last tear and in a spectacular explosion, that reinforced piston and center shat ruptured in a massive explosion. It sounded like a shot-gun. A fellow employee jumped under his desk, he thought someone was doing a drive by on our office.

After figuring out what happened, we went to help the big guy who blew up his chair and survey the damake. The reenfoced exploded alright, it bulged and a shard of metal taht used to be a part fo the shaft was thrown shaight up into teh air and hit a celing tile and took a good chunk oput of it. (Luckily, noone was hurt, even the big guy's massive bottom didnt get hit!)

I would! Sub-standard cheap-o chair that does not even meet home standards of daily use.

RE: Well - There goes my chair

Sorry, I'm a lousy typist, besides, my bottom hurts from sitting in an uncomfortable chair, maybe if I got a better one, my atrocious spelling would go away. (I dont know if chairs have anything to do with my typing, but since this is a thread on chairs, I just had to throw that in)
